Gentleman Jason and his tragic story

There are cats that are special. One such cat was Jason. He arrived in the park in the 28th of June 2021. I only got to see him two days later, still feeling lost and disoriented. A tiny kitten amidst a big number of cats, having to survive and fend for himself.

He must have been two month old or less when arriving at the park.  Jason was strong in general, but he had a sore eye, that never quite healed. Despite that, his health was in general good (tho he probably suffered from some sort of immunodefiency illness, possibly FIV), so he survived and thrived.

He was there when other cats passed away (such as dear Sablé and Sidney). But then, all of a sudden, this 16th of March, 2022, he passed to the Rainbow Bridge.

Jason was an amazing being, since young, a cat that never knew any malice. Since young, all he wanted to do was to play and sleep. He never quite hissed nor attacked any of the other cats. Everything he did, he did with a playful attitude. He once almost got my eye, when he climbed up my jacket and then shoulder and then, playing, hit my face between my eye and ear. All while lost in play.

It's true that for a while he quite didn't know that his claws could hurt us, so he could be a bit brusque with them, but all in play, never hissing, never angry. This attitude was the same towards the other cats. He never imposed himself on them. He always played with them, with the smaller ones that arrived later. Never attacking, never posturing. He was always accepted as well, despite Sonnen attacking him sometimes, he had the protection and loving of many of the other cats, even since young.

He was a ray of sunshine on this Earth, so full of chaos and strife. He could sleep right on the cement, never caring where he was, as long as he was feeling cared for. He never asked for more. He never knew more. He lived and died in the park and during his less than year old life I had the honor to witness him.

Jason was the best. And he lived. I hope to find him again. Someday.
